Summer in Chiang Rai
The past week we have probably had some of the hottest weather of this year. Yet today as I write this newsletter, the clouds are still hanging over the mountains and do not seem in a hurry to be going anywhere. It will probably rain today, but if not we are still grateful for the cloud as they buffer the hot sun.
Our First Baby Home!
Since our last newsletter, the construction on the first baby house has been completed! We prayed together that the funds would come in and it was great for all of us together see them come in. God is faithful. Upon completion of the home, we have temporarily moved kindergarten into two of the bedrooms. We plan to wait to move the kids there until later to enable us more time to finish off the last bits and pieces, plus add curtains and furniture. Once that is done our house-parents will settle in, followed by the children.
New Kindergarten Teacher
Home of the Open Heart welcomes Jackie Robinson as our newest staff addition to Home of the Open Heart. Fellow missionaries Bob & Jackie have been friends with Paul & Penny for several years and recently Jackie has felt led to come and help with kindy. With two kindergarten groups now. Pui, our Thai kindergarten teacher, is teaching the four younger children while Jackie is with our five older children. We are very blessed to see our kindergarten program develop over the past few months
Sponsorships
One of our goals at Home of the Open Heart is to help our Thai long term staff develop support teams. Many of you may know that all staff with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) must raise support for the work they do. In our ministry we try to help our Thai staff and encourage them to build teams that will support the work God has called them to do. We want to thank those of you who are supporting our Thai staff. These are incredible local people and without their hard work and serving hearts we would not be able to do what we do. We also have people who support our children. We are trying to develop support teams for each child so that now and in the future we together with their supporters are able to care for all their needs. The new school year will be coming and two of our children will be attending. It is great to see them going off to school and we are able to send them because of God’s provision through faithful supporters of our children and our ministry.
